ABUJA, October 9, 2026 — The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has urged eligible Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the nationwide collection exercise organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) begins, insisting that every vote must count in the 2027 general election.

The council also warned against any attempt to manipulate the electoral process, urging Nigerians not to succumb to claims that the outcome of the election would be predetermined or that votes would not count.

In a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the ADC-PCC described such claims as misleading and designed to discourage eligible voters from participating in the electoral process.

Ologbondiyan urged Nigerians to take advantage of the PVC collection exercise, stressing that the voter card remains essential to exercising their democratic rights at the polls.

“Go and collect your PVC. Your voter’s card is your power and your guarantee that you will vote on Jan. 16, 2027,” he said.

The ADC-PCC alleged that individuals promoting narratives about predetermined election results were attempting to create fear and encourage voter apathy ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to Ologbondiyan, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was allegedly promoting such narratives because of concerns about its performance in government.

“The APC knows it cannot win a free, fair and credible election after plunging Nigerians into hunger, hardship and insecurity. That is why it wants Nigerians to believe that results will be written. It is a lie. The era of writing results in hotel rooms is gone forever,” he stated.

The council maintained that existing electoral safeguards, including the Electoral Act as amended, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and INEC’s Result Viewing Portal (IReV), would help strengthen the credibility of the electoral process.

It also expressed confidence in Nigerians’ growing interest in the political process, insisting that eligible voters should participate actively rather than allow fears of possible electoral malpractice to discourage them.

“Every polling unit will be protected. Every vote will be counted, and every vote will count. Nigerians are more determined than ever to take back their country through the ballot,” Ologbondiyan added.

The ADC-PCC further called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, women’s organisations and civil society organisations to mobilise eligible voters to collect their PVCs and keep them safe ahead of the election.

It urged Nigerians to disregard messages discouraging electoral participation and to exercise their democratic rights during the forthcoming polls.

“We urge all Nigerians not to be deterred. Go and collect your PVC today and keep it safe. In 2027, you will vote, and your vote will count. No one can stop the will of the people,” Ologbondiyan said.

The council also disclosed that the ADC, under its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would deploy polling agents across the country’s polling units to monitor voting, protect ballots and challenge any attempt to undermine the people’s mandate.

The ADC-PCC reiterated its call for broad public participation in the electoral process, stressing that collecting PVCs and turning out to vote would be critical to citizens’ ability to influence the outcome of the 2027 general election.
