The Director-General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign in Kano State, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is strongly positioned to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Bichi described the Tinubu-Shettima ticket as “exceptionally strong and strategically positioned,” arguing that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima had further strengthened the party’s support base, particularly across Northern Nigeria.
According to him, the move has reinforced loyalty in the North-East and consolidated the APC’s political influence across the North.
Bichi also said the party had intensified its grassroots mobilisation through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a nationwide network comprising coordinators in all 774 local government areas, supported by a central digital platform designed to counter misinformation and promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Commenting on the opposition, Bichi claimed that leading political figures had acknowledged the internal challenges confronting their parties. He cited the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as admitting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remained too divided to pose a serious electoral challenge without rebuilding from the grassroots.
“Other political parties are even struggling for recognition and legitimacy,” he said.
The APC chieftain further argued that many Northern political leaders believe it is the South’s turn to complete its tenure in the presidency, a development he said had weakened the prospects of potential challengers, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He also claimed that Labour Party’s Peter Obi was finding it difficult to gain significant political support in Northern Nigeria.
Bichi maintained that President Tinubu had remained committed to implementing his Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the areas of food security and infrastructure development.
He also commended Vice President Shettima for his loyalty and commitment to the administration, saying his contributions had earned him widespread support and justified President Tinubu’s decision to retain him on the party’s 2027 ticket.
“The Vice President’s exceptional dedication to the progress of Nigeria and the North has endeared him to the people in a manner that informed the President’s decision to retain him,” Bichi stated.
