The Kano State Police Command has announced comprehensive security measures to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free conduct of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across all Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres in the state.

The examination, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to take place from April 15 to April 26, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

In a statement, the Police said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered the large-scale deployment of personnel, including conventional officers, tactical teams, and undercover operatives, to safeguard examination centres and other strategic locations across the state.

The Command disclosed that the security arrangement includes adequate personnel deployment for access control and crowd management, intelligence-led surveillance to detect and prevent threats, and intensified 24-hour patrols on routes leading to CBT centres and other public areas.

It added that traffic officers have also been mobilised to ensure smooth vehicular movement around examination venues, while collaboration with sister security agencies such as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Department of State Services (DSS), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has been strengthened to guarantee effective coordination.

The Police assured candidates and examination officials of maximum safety before, during, and after the exercise, warning that anyone found engaging in examination malpractice, impersonation, extortion, or any act capable of breaching public peace would be dealt with decisively.

Candidates were advised to arrive early at their designated centres, comply with all instructions from officials, and avoid bringing prohibited items such as electronic gadgets and bags into the examination halls.

The Command also urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around CBT centres, stressing that only candidates scheduled for each session would be allowed within the premises.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining law and order, the Police called on all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth and successful conduct of the 2026 UTME in Kano State.
