No fewer than 26 postgraduate students sponsored by Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, have returned to Nigeria after successfully completing their studies in India.
The scholars, who specialised in forensic science and cybersecurity, arrived at Aminu Kano International Airport on Tuesday, where they were warmly received by their parents, relatives, and well-wishers.
Speaking during a brief reception at the airport, the Special Adviser on Policy to the Deputy Senate President, Bashir Fagge, commended Jibrin for prioritising human capital development through the scholarship programme.
“This initiative is a strategic investment in the future of our country,” he said. “We urge the beneficiaries to serve as worthy ambassadors of this programme and make meaningful contributions to society.”
Fagge also revealed that the next phase of the initiative would focus on doctorate programmes, encouraging the graduates to pursue further academic advancement. “Learning should not stop here.
There are greater opportunities ahead,” he added.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gari Local Government Area, Shitu Madaki, congratulated the graduates and urged them to utilise their expertise for the development of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
Representing the Deputy Senate President, his Chief of Staff, Mohammad Ibn Abdallah, expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the programme.
“We thank Almighty Allah for guiding these students throughout their academic journey. Their success has brought pride not only to their families but also to Kano State and Nigeria,” he said.
He further disclosed that the students received consistent financial support during their stay abroad, urging them to apply their knowledge for national development.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Aliyu Ibrahim expressed appreciation for the opportunity.
“We are deeply grateful for this scholarship and assure you that we will not betray the confidence reposed in us,” he said.
Also speaking, a representative of the parents, Jibrin Baba, thanked the Deputy Senate President and offered prayers for his continued success.
The reception ceremony was attended by parents, relatives, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the scholars’ safe return and academic achievements.
