The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kumbotso Local Government branch in Kano State, has sponsored the marriage of two of its members, including the full payment of the dowry, as part of efforts to enhance teachers’ welfare and promote unity within the profession.
Chairman of the union in Kumbotso, Comrade Sani, disclosed that the gesture was extended to Malam Garba Sule, who tied the knot with a fellow teacher. He explained that the initiative reflects the union’s commitment to supporting members beyond the workplace.
According to him, the intervention is designed to encourage stable family life among teachers while strengthening bonds within the union. He noted that special consideration is also given to female teachers who have lost their spouses and are left with the responsibility of raising children and caring for orphans.
Comrade Sani described the marriage as a symbol of solidarity and mutual support among educators in the area, adding that such initiatives help to boost morale and foster a sense of belonging.
He further expressed the union’s joy over the successful union and offered prayers for peace, harmony, and prosperity in the couple’s new home.
