The Kano State Task Force Committee on Motor Parks and Other Public Spaces has met with the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, to address rising security concerns in motor parks and other public areas across the state.

Led by its Chairman, Major Adamu Abubakar Usman (Rtd.), the Task Force said it was established by the Kano State Government to respond to growing security challenges, particularly crimes linked to motor parks. He noted that motor parks have become key transit points for criminal activities, including child trafficking and the movement of illicit drugs.

Major Usman explained that the committee is also working to promote a drug-free society, stressing that the transportation and distribution of illegal substances through motor parks remains a major concern. He said the Task Force aims to sanitize these spaces by working with relevant stakeholders to properly identify vehicles entering and leaving the state, as well as the goods they convey.

According to him, the visit was meant to strengthen collaboration with the Police in developing a sustainable security framework for Kano State.

Responding, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, acknowledged that many crimes in the state either originate from or end at motor parks. He commended the state government for setting up the Task Force, describing it as a timely intervention.

The Commissioner revealed that the Command makes daily arrests related to drug trafficking and other crimes, and assured the Task Force of full police cooperation. He added that the Police will continue to support all initiatives aimed at improving safety and security in Kano State, in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
