Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commiserated with traders at Singer Market following a devastating fire outbreak that destroyed goods valued at hundreds of millions of naira.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor described the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking, noting that the state government shares in the pain and losses suffered by the affected business owners.
Governor Yusuf assured the traders of the government’s solidarity and support, praying that Almighty Allah grants them strength and replaces their losses with better opportunities. He also prayed for the prevention of similar incidents across the state.
The governor directed relevant authorities, including the Kano State Fire Service and other security agencies, to strengthen fire prevention measures and intensify public awareness campaigns in markets and other commercial centres.
He further disclosed that the state government would explore practical ways to assist the affected traders, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to cushion the impact of the losses.
Governor Yusuf also urged traders and business owners to strictly comply with safety guidelines, particularly in the handling of electrical installations and other fire-prone equipment, to protect lives and property.
