The Kano State Government has congratulated African Independent Television (AIT) on its 29th anniversary, describing the station as a strategic partner in Nigeria’s nation-building efforts.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in which the government commended AIT for nearly three decades of professional and impactful broadcasting that has helped shape public opinion and promote national development.

The statement highlighted AIT’s pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic culture by providing citizens with access to credible information, encouraging civic awareness, and promoting active public participation in governance.
It noted that AIT’s editorial direction over the years has contributed to value reorientation through programming that emphasizes ethics, national unity, social responsibility, and respect for Nigeria’s diversity.
The station has also nurtured informed public discourse, amplified citizens’ voices, and supported transparent governance through balanced reporting and thought-provoking analyses.
The government further acknowledged AIT’s consistent and fair coverage of developments in Kano State, which has helped keep the public informed about government policies, programmes, and achievements.
Kano State Government extended appreciation to AIT’s management, editors, journalists, and staff for upholding professionalism, ethics, and responsible broadcasting over the years.
As the station marks 29 years, the government urged AIT to remain committed to truth, objectivity, and national cohesion, especially amid the evolving challenges in the media landscape.
