Development Commission (NEDC) has stepped up its humanitarian efforts in Adamawa State with a large-scale distribution of essential food items to vulnerable groups and key institutions across Yola.
Supervising the exercise, the Adamawa State Coordinator of the Commission, Khalifa Lawan, said the initiative followed directives from the NEDC headquarters. He added that the commission aims to reach at least 100 vulnerable groups and organisations before the year runs out.
According to him, the intervention reflects the NEDC’s ongoing commitment to reducing economic hardship and boosting community resilience throughout the North East region.
Among the beneficiaries of the latest distribution are the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), orphans under religious care, homes for the destitute, and the correctional centres in Jimeta and Yolde-Pate.
Representatives of the benefiting groups expressed gratitude for the support, noting that the items would significantly improve the welfare of their members and dependants.
