Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the success of the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer Programme, highlighting its achievements in transparency, efficiency, and wide-reaching impact across the state.

The governor made this known during a review meeting with the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, held at the Government House in Kano on Monday.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf disclosed that the initiative has reached a total of 609,013 beneficiaries in Kano State, with a cumulative disbursement of ₦48,276,150,000 to vulnerable citizens.

“This achievement reflects the programme’s far-reaching commitment to poverty alleviation, social inclusion, and economic empowerment,” the governor stated.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Sulaiman Wali Sani, Yusuf urged beneficiaries to make productive use of the funds, emphasizing that the support should serve as a foundation for long-term growth rather than temporary relief.

He also expressed appreciation to the minister for his leadership and commitment to the successful implementation of the National Social Safety Net Project–Scale Up (NASSP-SU), noting that the collaboration has strengthened social intervention efforts in the state.

Earlier, Dr. Doro explained that his visit was part of an oversight mission to engage stakeholders and assess the progress of the programme. He revealed that Kano State recorded the highest disbursement figures, surpassing the combined totals of four other states.

The minister praised the Kano State Government for maintaining a high level of transparency and accountability in executing the initiative.

In her remarks, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, confirmed the smooth implementation of the programme and noted that beneficiaries have expressed deep appreciation for the intervention.
