President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday received former Sokoto State governorship candidate, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, following his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ubandoma was presented to the President by the leader of the APC in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, after his recent defection to the ruling party.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.
During the meeting, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction over Ubandoma’s return to the APC, assuring him of the party’s support and full integration.
The statement described the meeting as cordial and productive, noting that discussions focused on strengthening the APC and consolidating its political gains in Sokoto State and beyond.
President Tinubu also urged Ubandoma to maintain a close working relationship with Senator Wamakko and Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, in the interest of the party’s continued growth and unity.
Ubandoma, a former Commissioner for Finance and former Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 general election. He officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the APC earlier this week.
