Alhaji Abdulsalam Abdulkarim Zaura (AA Zaura) has formally declared his intention to contest for the Kano Central Senatorial District seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, pledging to deliver purposeful leadership and effective representation.
Addressing party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters, Zaura said his decision was driven by a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the people. “I stand before you with humility and dedication to the well-being of Kano Central,” he stated.

“Today, I formally declare my intention to seek your mandate to serve in the Senate under the platform of our great party, the APC.”
He described his ambition as more than a political move, calling it “a bold call to restore purposeful representation and return Kano Central to its rightful place in national relevance and economic opportunity.”
Reflecting on his previous outing in the 2023 elections, Zaura noted that the experience strengthened his understanding of the people’s needs. “That journey deepened my understanding of your aspirations and struggles,” he said, adding that his work through the AA Zaura Foundation has impacted lives across Kano State.
Outlining his legislative agenda, the APC aspirant emphasized education, infrastructure, agriculture, and security as key priorities. “We will expand access to quality education, invest in digital innovation, and equip our youths with modern skills to compete globally,” he said.
On infrastructure and economic growth, he pledged to attract federal support for roads, housing, and rural development, while also promoting agriculture and food security. “We will drive legislation that strengthens our local economy and ensures food sufficiency,” he added.
Zaura also stressed the importance of security, promising to support stronger legal frameworks to combat crime and social vices.
“Security is fundamental. We will tackle drug abuse, gangsterism, and street criminality to ensure safer communities,” he said.
He criticized ineffective representation, noting that “Kano Central deserves more than absentee leadership and routine motions.”
He assured constituents of accessibility and accountability, saying, “I will be present, consult widely, and deliver policies that truly benefit our people.”
Zaura concluded with optimism, declaring that “come 2027, Kano Central will return to its days of glory and strong influence in national politics.”
