Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has cautioned Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, against turning the issue of insecurity into a political battle. He urged the governor to focus on tackling the rising security challenges confronting residents of the state.

Senator Barau’s remarks follow accusations by the Kano State Government that his recent comments were undermining ongoing security operations. Responding to the claims, the Deputy Senate President described the allegations as “false, reckless and malicious,” insisting that he had never made any statement capable of heightening tension in the state.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, Barau stressed that addressing insecurity in Kano and across the country requires collective efforts from all stakeholders rather than political blame-trading.

He called on Governor Yusuf to “wake up from slumber” and provide effective leadership, arguing that mismanagement under the current administration has hindered the state’s progress and diminished its longstanding reputation.
