Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has bid farewell to 350 postgraduate students sponsored by the state government to further their education abroad, charging them to uphold discipline and diligence in their academic pursuits.
The students, who form part of the 1,001 beneficiaries of the Kano State Postgraduate Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Scheme, are heading to universities in India, Uganda, and Malaysia to begin their various postgraduate programs.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano.
Speaking during a send-off ceremony held at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Governor Yusuf reminded the beneficiaries that the scholarship is both a privilege and a responsibility, urging them to make the most of the opportunity to excel academically.
He expressed confidence that the knowledge and skills acquired by the scholars would greatly benefit Kano State and Nigeria, contributing to human capital development and innovation.
The Governor also encouraged the students to be worthy ambassadors of Kano and Nigeria, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural values and traditions while abroad. He prayed for their success and safe return after completing their studies.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to education, Governor Yusuf stated that the government would continue to invest in the intellectual growth of Kano’s youth and support the scholars throughout their academic journey.
The event was attended by top government officials, including Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo; Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isma’il Jibril Falgore; Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim; Chief of Staff, Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani (mni); other members of the State Executive Council, and parents of the beneficiaries.
