Former Military Head of State, retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of retired Maj.-Gen. Abdullahi Mohammed, a former Chief of Staff to ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Gen. Mohammed, who died at the age of 86, was widely respected for his discipline, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
In a condolence message issued in Kano on Wednesday, Abdulsalami extended his sympathies to the family of the late General, as well as to the government and people of Kwara State, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the nation at large.
He described Mohammed as a “disciplined, loyal, and patriotic officer who made significant contributions to Nigeria’s stability and governance.” Abdulsalami noted that the late General brought a rare blend of duty, humility, and integrity to every position he held, leaving an enduring legacy in public service.
“Gen. Mohammed was a man of exemplary character who combined the precision of a soldier with the prudence of a statesman,” Abdulsalami said.
He prayed for God’s mercy on the departed General’s soul and urged his family to bear the loss with strength and faith.
