The Kano State Government has announced plans to construct 50 low-cost housing estates across 36 Local Government Areas outside the metropolitan zone, in a bold move to tackle housing challenges and provide affordable accommodation for low- and middle-income earners.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the initiative is part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s comprehensive strategy to bridge the housing deficit, promote inclusive development, and improve living standards across the state.
According to the statement, the project will not only address the demand for affordable homes but also boost local economies by creating job opportunities for artisans, engineers, and contractors.
Each of the housing estates will feature essential infrastructure such as access roads, electricity, and potable water to ensure sustainability, comfort, and improved quality of life for residents.
“This initiative reflects Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to equitable development and his vision to ensure that every community benefits from sustainable infrastructure,” Bature said.
The statement further emphasized the administration’s dedication to investing in people-centered projects that enhance livelihoods and strengthen the socio-economic fabric of the state.
