In a major stride towards operational excellence, Dangote’s Okpella Cement Limited has earned the Integrated Management System (IMS) Certification, marking a significant milestone in its pursuit of global best practices.
The certification, conferred by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), recognizes the company’s outstanding commitment to quality management, environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety standards.
Speaking during a ceremony at the Okpella plant in Edo State, the Plant Director, Engineer Mohammed Ismaeel, said the achievement reflects the company’s dedication to building a world-class system that prioritizes efficiency, safety, and environmental responsibility.
“This certification means a lot to us and it’s the result of hard work and teamwork ” Ismaeel said.

“It shows our determination to be a global leader in cement manufacturing, known not only for quality products and services but also for ethical and sustainable business practices.”
He outlined several benefits of the certification, including international recognition, reduced operational waste, improved product quality, enhanced customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.
The Head of Quality Control and IMS Team Lead, Mr. Anil Rao, who presented the certificate to the management, emphasized that the IMS framework integrates three core international standards: the Quality Management System (QMS), the Environmental Management System (EMS), and the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS).
According to Rao, the certification journey involved a three-phase process for capacity building, system implementation, and performance evaluation,designed to embed continuous improvement and sustainability into every aspect of the plant’s operations.
He added that with the IMS certification, Okpella Cement is strategically positioned as a global industry player, committed to excellence, sustainability, and continuous innovation in cement manufacturing.
