Kano Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has employed no fewer than 100 Forest Guards for the management of the state’s forests.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr Dahir Muhammad Hashim disclosed this during official presentation of letters of appointments to the newly-engaged Forest Guards, held at the ministry on Monday.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony of the letters of appointment, Mr Hashim said the forest guards would guard the trees against illegal felling.
According to Mr Hashim, trees are a source of life, shade, and sustenance, noting that caring for them is not only an environmental duty but also a form of recurrent acts of charity encouraged by Islam.
He however noted that cutting down trees recklessly brings devastating effects on our land, our health, and our livelihoods.
“Today, we officially presented employment offers to 100 newly engaged Forest Guards. I congratulate them for joining us in this noble task of protecting our forests and preserving the future of Kano State.
” Trees are a source of life, shade, and sustenance. Caring for them is not only an environmental duty but also a form of sadaqatul jariyah whose blessings continue long after us.
“Cutting down trees recklessly, however, brings devastating effects on our land, our health, and our livelihoods,” he said.
