In a decisive move to fast-track development across key sectors, the Katsina State Executive Council has approved a series of far-reaching projects focused on improving security, education, transportation, women’s empowerment, and youth entrepreneurship.

The decisions were taken during the 14th regular Council meeting held on Wednesday and chaired by Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda.

The newly approved initiatives form a central part of the administration’s “Building Your Future” agenda, which prioritizes safety, economic opportunity, and sustainable growth.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, announced the Council’s approval for the provision of ammunition and operational support to community watch corps, vigilante groups, and local hunters.

“This initiative will strengthen grassroots collaboration with security operatives and significantly improve public safety,” he said.

“It’s about ensuring that our people can live and move freely without the fear of banditry.”

Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, unveiled major transportation and infrastructure projects, including the procurement of 30 hybrid buses designed to transport over 40 students each, part of efforts to reduce emissions and lower transportation costs for students.

He also confirmed the approval of the Daura Western Bypass Dual Carriageway project—an 11.43 km stretch with an additional 3.0 km spur connecting to the Daura-Katsina Federal Highway.

“These projects underscore the administration’s commitment to enhancing mobility and supporting regional trade,” he noted.

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Zainab Musa Musawa, announced the rehabilitation of facilities at the Special Model School in Radda. Upgrades include solar-powered water supply systems, science and technical equipment, instructional materials, solar PV installations, CCTV cameras, and streetlights.

Musawa also revealed that the Council has declared a state of emergency on dilapidated primary school structures across the state.

The first phase will target the 10 most deteriorated schools in each of the state’s 34 Local Government Areas.

“This is a pivotal step towards rebuilding our education system to serve the next generation more effectively,” she said.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, detailed newly approved programs aimed at supporting widows and vulnerable women—particularly those impacted by insecurity.

These include rehabilitation, vocational training, and settlement support packages.

“These women will be given tools to rebuild their lives with dignity, economic stability, and independence,” she said.

Hajiya Aisha Aminu Malunfashi, Director-General of the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), introduced the Graduate Entrepreneurship Empowerment Programme. The initiative will provide soft loans to indigent graduates to help them start small-scale businesses.

“This will reduce youth unemployment and encourage self-reliance,” she explained.

E-Governance Drive

To enhance administrative efficiency, the Council also approved the remodeling and digitization of the State Executive Council Chamber—migrating from analog to digital systems.

Commitment to Progress

The wide-ranging approvals, according to government officials, reflect Governor Radda’s commitment to transparency, sustainable development, inclusive governance, and economic resilience in Katsina State.

“These actions are not just promises; they are tangible steps toward building a safer, more prosperous Katsina for all,” said Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
