Tinubu Won’t Be Derailed by “Expired Politicians,” Presidency Insists

The Presidency on Monday declared that emerging political coalitions do not pose any threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, brushing aside what it described as distractions from “politically expired” figures attempting to regain relevance.

Addressing journalists in Kano, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Affairs, said Tinubu remains unwavering in his commitment to steering Nigeria toward sustainable development, regardless of opposition noise.“They are disgruntled elements crying over exclusion from power,” Abdulaziz stated.

“Listen to their interviews – it’s not about the people, it’s about themselves. Leadership is not a ‘common chop.’ It is service.”

The presidential aide accused coalition leaders of personal vendettas and frustration, rather than genuine concern for the nation.

He described the opposition alliances as lacking credibility and electoral traction.Abdulaziz reiterated that President Tinubu is more focused on tough, necessary reforms than short-term political gains. Key among these, he said, are the removal of fuel subsidies, efforts to stabilize the naira, and a halt to reckless borrowing.

“A politician would have continued borrowing to pay for subsidies,” he argued.

“But President Tinubu understands that leadership is not about popularity.”

Responding to accusations of regional favoritism in infrastructure allocation, Abdulaziz firmly rejected the claims, describing them as “politically motivated rhetoric.”

“If this president wanted to marginalize the North, he could have abandoned the projects he inherited. But not one of those projects has been stopped,” he said.

He highlighted several major infrastructure initiatives underway in Northern Nigeria, including:AKK Gas Pipeline (nearing completion)Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway (₦400 billion invested)Kano–Katsina–Maradi Rail ProjectKaduna–Kano Rail LinePort Harcourt–Maiduguri Rail LineSokoto–Badagry Highway (now 60% complete)Abdulaziz concluded by emphasizing that the Tinubu administration remains committed to long-term national prosperity, undeterred by political scheming or short-term popularity contests.

“This presidency is focused on delivery, not distractions,” he said.

As political coalitions continue to emerge, the message from the Villa appears clear: Tinubu is here to govern, not to play politics.
