By Editor The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, on Monday handed over four suspects and a consignment of vandalised high-voltage power conductors worth N5.3 million to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kano.
Area Controller of the command Dalhatu Abubakar said the suspects were intercepted on September 11 during a routine patrol.The items recovered included 13 bundles of vandalised 155-millimetre aluminium electric conductors measuring 1,771 metres, 73 bundles of firewood used to conceal the cables, a box-body wagon, a cutting plier, vehicle registration papers, and N250,000 in cash.
Abubakar said the handover underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in safeguarding critical national infrastructure.
“This singular act of criminality has denied the affected communities water supply and electricity and hospitals, causing health complications, serious injuries and even deaths.
“We will pursue this case professionally and ensure those involved are brought to justice,” he said.
