Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commended state governors for road construction and infrastructure development, saying she has witnessed a notable level of activity in the sector after serving eight years in the Senate.
She made the remarks during on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at a North-Central grassroots rally organised in support of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
“I have been in the Senate for 8 years. This is the first time I will see governors fixing roads, building a lot of infrastructure,” the First Lady said.
Her comments come amid ongoing public debate over the performance of the Tinubu administration, particularly against the backdrop of rising living costs and concerns about the impact of government policies on Nigerians.
The remarks have also drawn attention to the role of state governments in delivering infrastructure projects, especially road construction, which remains a major component of development efforts across the country.
Although infrastructure development is a key responsibility of state governments, the scale of projects, funding priorities and pace of implementation differ from one state to another.
Senator Tinubu’s comments highlight the importance of infrastructure delivery in discussions about governance and development, as Nigerians continue to assess the performance of elected officials at both state and federal levels.
