Barau Unveils APC Campaign Council for Kano North Ahead of 2027 Elections

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has unveiled the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign council for Kano North ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jibrin, who represents Kano North Senatorial District in the Senate, said the campaign structure would focus on strengthening the party at the grassroots, mobilising supporters and promoting APC candidates across the district.

The Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, was appointed Chairman of the campaign council.

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while former Surveyor-General of the Federation, Nadu Yahaya, was appointed Secretary.

Other members of the council include former House of Representatives member, Farouk Lawan, as First Deputy Chairman, while Saidu Garba Getso and Badamasi Ayuba were appointed Second and Third Deputy Chairmen respectively.

Yusuf Tumfafi was named Director-General of the campaign council, alongside other officials saddled with coordinating various aspects of the campaign.

The campaign structure covers all 13 local government areas in Kano North: Shanono, Bagwai, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimin Gado, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa, Bichi, Garin Malam, Tsanyawa, Dambatta, Makoda and Gabasawa.

It also includes campaign committees at the local government and ward levels, bringing together party leaders, stakeholders and other members expected to drive grassroots mobilisation.

While unveiling the council, Jibrin urged its members to take the APC’s message to communities across Kano North and work towards mobilising support for the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.

The development comes as political parties across Nigeria step up preparations for the 2027 general elections, with Kano North remaining a significant political constituency in Kano State.
