Kano Pilgrims Board Sets May 14 for First Hajj Flight, Finalises Arrangements

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed May 14, 2026, as the departure date for the first batch of intending pilgrims from the state to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj exercise.

The Director General of the Board, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, announced the development at the closing ceremony of the Hajj induction course held at the School for Arabic Studies in Kano.

He explained that the date is in line with the official timetable released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), adding that Max Air has been designated as the official carrier for the airlift of pilgrims from the state.

Matawalle assured that the Board has concluded all necessary preparations to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation, emphasizing its commitment to the welfare and safety of pilgrims throughout the exercise.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, urged intending pilgrims to remain diligent in studying their induction materials to deepen their understanding of Hajj rites and procedures.

He also advised them to strictly adhere to all guidelines and regulations issued by both Nigerian and Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure a successful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.

The event featured presentations from representatives of key agencies and service providers, including the Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Hajj Tribunal, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Max Air, and Hisbah, who all sensitised participants on their roles and responsibilities during the pilgrimage.
