Kano Governor Support the Families of Fallen Soldiers, Vigilante With ₦5m Each

The Executive Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the payment of ₦5 million each to the families and spouses of four military personnel and a vigilante who lost their lives in the line of duty in Shanono Local Government Area.

The cheque presentation took place on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Headquarters of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Bukavu Barracks, Kano.

Governor Yusuf, represented by the Director General, Special Services, Kano State Government House, Major General Sani Mohammed (Rtd), presented the cheques to the families of three Nigerian Army personnel, one Nigerian Air Force personnel, and the spouse of a vigilante who were killed between November 2025 and January 2026 while combating insecurity.


Speaking at the event, the Governor described the fallen personnel as heroes whose sacrifices in protecting lives and property would never be forgotten. He noted that no amount of compensation could adequately repay their service to the nation, while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the welfare of security personnel and the families of the deceased. He also assured continued collaboration with security agencies to combat banditry and criminal activities across the state.

In his remarks, the Commander of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Tukur, commended the Kano State Government for the gesture, describing it as a morale booster and appreciating the timely support.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Lance Corporal Yusuf Jibril expressed gratitude to Governor Yusuf and all stakeholders involved, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously for the welfare of the bereaved families.
