The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa (APC, Niger), has condemned the abduction of pupils from St Mary’s Catholic School in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, describing the attack as a “senseless act of terror.”
In a statement issued on Saturday in Kano, Senator Musa expressed deep concern and sorrow over the incident, which occurred on Friday night when armed men invaded the school and kidnapped an undisclosed number of students.
He expressed solidarity with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Niger State Government, the people of Agwara, and especially the families of the abducted children.
“The incident is a senseless act that has traumatised the entire community,” Musa said. “I strongly condemn this criminal attack and reaffirm our collective resolve to work with security agencies and all relevant authorities to ensure the safe and immediate rescue of the abducted students.”
The senator urged Nigerians to remain united and to support security agencies with useful information in the fight against banditry and kidnapping.
“Together, we shall overcome this scourge and restore peace to our land,” he added.
