The Jigawa State Police Command has disbursed ₦31,450,025.16 to the families of 59 police officers who lost their lives in active service, as part of ongoing efforts to uphold the welfare and legacy of the Force’s fallen heroes.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, announced the development in a statement, noting that the initiative underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their dependents.

Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, under the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

Speaking at the ceremony, CP Dahiru described the deceased officers as “heroes who laid down their lives in defense of peace, justice, and the unity of the nation.” He assured that their sacrifices would never be forgotten, emphasizing the Force’s continued dedication to the welfare of their families.

“This gesture is part of the IGP’s welfare initiative to provide financial relief and moral support to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty,” Dahiru stated.

He also urged beneficiaries to use the funds prudently for the benefit of their families, while reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to discipline, accountability, and personnel well-being.

The Commissioner further pledged that the Command would continue to implement programmes designed to enhance officers’ morale and support both serving and retired personnel.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Surajo Shehu expressed deep gratitude to the Inspector-General and the Commissioner for their compassion and continued support, promising that the funds would be used responsibly to sustain the legacy of the fallen officers.
