Preparations are in top gear for the 2025 Kano Cultural Festival (KANFEST), a grand celebration designed to promote Kano’s rich cultural heritage and boost the state’s creative industry.

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Friday in Kano ahead of the event, scheduled to hold from October 25 to 27, 2025.

According to Abdulsalam-Gwarzo, KANFEST 2025 will provide a vibrant platform to showcase the diverse culture, craftsmanship, creativity, and commerce that have defined Kano for generations.

He said the festival aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision to revive, preserve, and promote the cultural values, traditions, and artistic talents that make Kano unique.

“Culture is the soul of every society. It defines who we are and unites us as a people. Through KANFEST, we want to reconnect our youth with their roots and showcase Kano’s enduring identity to the world,” Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam-Gwarzo, Deputy Governor, Kano State

The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of media and stakeholder collaboration in projecting Kano’s image and cultural pride beyond Nigeria’s borders.

Highlighting Kano’s historical significance as a center of civilization, scholarship, craftsmanship, and trade, Abdulsalam-Gwarzo noted that the state remains a melting pot of cultures across Nigeria and West Africa.

“By hosting KANFEST, we reaffirm Kano’s status as a cultural capital and creative hub in the region,” he added.

He further stated that the festival would attract investors, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts, thereby creating economic and employment opportunities for young people and artisans.

Abdulsalam-Gwarzo expressed confidence that the cultural and creative sectors could play a vital role in job creation, tourism promotion, and economic diversification, especially in the face of national economic challenges.

“Cultural industries can generate income, empower communities, and
strengthen our sense of unity. This initiative will help reduce youth unemployment while reviving our collective pride,” he said.

He assured that the state government has made adequate security arrangements to ensure a safe and successful festival.

The 2025 KANFEST, he added, will also lay the foundation for the long-term documentation, preservation, and promotion of Kano’s cultural legacy for generations to come.
