The Kano State Government and the Republic of Guinea Bissau have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in agriculture, education, culture, tourism, and human capital development.
A high-powered delegation from Kano, led by the state NNPP Chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed representing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf met with President Umaro Sissoco Embaló in Bissau on Thursday, according to the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
During the meeting, both parties pledged to strengthen collaboration in areas such as job creation, youth empowerment, and skills acquisition, particularly in GSM repairs, fish farming, and the cashew and mango value chains.
As part of the partnership, the Kano State Government offered 50 scholarships to citizens of Guinea Bissau to study English and Hausa at state-owned tertiary institutions, aimed at promoting cultural and linguistic exchange.
President Embaló commended Governor Yusuf’s visionary leadership and expressed his intention to pay a reciprocal visit to Kano. He also directed his Defence Minister to lead a delegation to further explore potential areas of cooperation.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that create opportunities in human capital development, trade, and cultural exchange for the benefit of the people of Kano.
The delegation included Kano State Commissioners and other senior government officials.
