NAWOJ Taraba Receives ₦500,000 Federal Government Enterprise Grant

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Taraba State Chapter, has received a ₦500,000 Enterprise Support Grant from the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The grant was presented on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, during the ongoing 26th National Council on Women Affairs, Child Advancement and Social Development in Jalingo, Taraba State.

The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment, strengthen livelihoods and support women-led enterprises and organisations across the country.

Receiving the grant on behalf of NAWOJ Taraba, the State Chairperson, Comrade Janet Audu, who was represented by the association’s Secretary, Doris Filbert, expressed appreciation to the Minister and the ministry for the gesture.

Audu described the grant as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s recognition of the important role women play in national development, particularly women journalists who contribute to public enlightenment, advocacy and the promotion of issues affecting women, children and other vulnerable groups.

She assured the ministry that the funds would be put to productive use to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the association while improving the capacity and welfare of its members.

According to her, supporting organisations such as NAWOJ is crucial to advancing women’s participation in social development and community building.

The 26th National Council on Women Affairs, currently holding in Jalingo, is focused on strengthening families, advancing the care economy and promoting an inclusive social protection system for women, children, families and other vulnerable groups.

Audu further commended the Minister and the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for extending the empowerment initiative to NAWOJ Taraba, saying the support would contribute to the association’s efforts to promote the welfare and development of its members.
