Kano, Sudan Seek Stronger Partnership in Healthcare, Education, Trade

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening its long-standing relationship with the Republic of Sudan through expanded collaboration in healthcare, education, commerce and cultural exchange.

Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, made this known while receiving the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Nigeria, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullahi Haroon, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Government House in Kano.

Garo said Kano and Sudan share centuries-old historical ties built on common religious, cultural, educational and commercial heritage, noting that the enduring relationship continues to provide a strong foundation for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two peoples.

He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations in key sectors, including healthcare, education, trade and cultural exchange, for the benefit of both parties.

The deputy governor also conveyed the sympathy of the Kano State Government and its people to the Government and people of Sudan over the humanitarian challenges caused by the ongoing conflict in the country. He expressed hope for the restoration of lasting peace, stability and the speedy recovery of communities affected by the crisis.

Garo further expressed the appreciation of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration to the Government of Sudan for offering fully funded scholarships to students from Kano State. He described the gesture as a significant contribution to educational development and expressed optimism that it would further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Kano and Sudan.
