The Kano State Government has unveiled a comprehensive five-year master plan aimed at driving infrastructure and community development across the state’s 44 local government areas.

The Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Dr. Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano, saying the initiative followed a directive by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to assess the development needs of rural communities across the state.

According to Abdulsalam, the ministry conducted on-the-spot assessments in all 44 local government areas to identify priority needs and develop a strategic roadmap for sustainable development over the next five years.

He explained that the exercise involved extensive consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure the blueprint reflects the aspirations and priorities of residents.

“The ministry engaged traditional institutions and community leaders across the 44 local government areas and documented their needs to ensure proper planning and implementation of development projects,” the commissioner said.
Abdulsalam added that the ministry worked closely with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Water Resources and the Kano State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), to produce the development blueprint.

He said the master plan would serve as a guide for implementing infrastructure and community development projects tailored to the specific needs of each local government area.

The commissioner also revealed that Governor Yusuf would soon inaugurate a committee to oversee the effective implementation of the five-year development plan.

He expressed optimism that the initiative would promote equitable development, improve access to critical infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents of rural communities across Kano State.
