Kano Police Reunite Missing Teen with Family, Expose False Identity Claim

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the successful resolution of a missing teenager case earlier reported in Dadin Kowa Village, Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command disclosed that thorough investigations uncovered the true identity of the teenager, who had initially claimed to be a Spanish national named Alex Ansol. He was later identified as Yusuf Sabiu, a 16-year-old Nigerian.

Further inquiries revealed that Yusuf’s parents are Saminu Yusuf, 44, from Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Habiba Alhassan Adam, 35, from Plateau State.

The Police also established that the couple had been separated for over 13 years.

Following the conclusion of the investigation, Yusuf Sabiu was formally handed over to his parents at the Doguwa Police Division in Kano through the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), marking a peaceful and successful reunion.

The Police Command expressed appreciation to members of the media, press organizations, and social media users whose swift dissemination of information contributed significantly to tracing the teenager’s family and resolving the case.

While reiterating its commitment to public safety, the Command urged parents and guardians to promptly report missing persons to the nearest police station, stressing that early reporting enhances rapid response and increases the chances of safe recovery.

The Command also advised separated or divorced parents to maintain effective communication concerning the welfare of their children, noting that a supportive and coordinated approach is vital in safeguarding children from risks associated with neglect or lack of supervision.
