The Kano State Police Command has commenced a large-scale, community-focused policing initiative aimed at strengthening public participation in the fight against crime, particularly thuggery and illicit drug trafficking across the state.
The initiative follows the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who has emphasized proactive and robust community policing as a key strategy for enhancing security nationwide.

As part of the new drive, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify public sensitization efforts.
These include strategic engagements with traditional rulers, religious and community leaders, as well as town hall meetings, school outreach programmes, and sporting events.
The Command is also expanding its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) across the state to further address youth involvement in crime and other social vices.
According to the Command, coordinated engagements are currently ongoing across the eleven Area Commands and seventy-eight Divisions in Kano State, with early reports indicating positive outcomes. The police leadership commended community leaders, stakeholders, and residents for their continued cooperation and support in crime prevention efforts.
The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency hotlines: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926.
“Together, we can make Kano a safer place,” the Commissioner stated, while also appreciating officers of the Command for their dedication and professionalism.
The Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained collaboration with the public to ensure lasting peace and security across Kano State.
