Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has praised the increasing contributions of Chinese investors to the state’s economic growth, particularly in construction, commerce, technology, and industrial development.
The governor made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving the Deputy Chief of Mission of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, Hon. Zhou Hongyou, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Kano. This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
Yusuf described Kano as a leading economic hub in northern Nigeria and across Africa, noting that his administration prioritises security, inclusive governance, and a friendly environment for foreign investment. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening collaboration with the Chinese government and private sector, stressing that communication, business expansion, and social cooperation are key pillars of his development agenda.
The governor said the welfare of the people remains central to policy formulation, adding that his administration will continue to pursue partnerships that create tangible benefits for communities across the state.
In his remarks, Hon. Zhou Hongyou said the visit underscores China’s recognition of Kano as one of Nigeria’s most significant commercial centres. He applauded Governor Yusuf’s emphasis on security and public welfare.
Zhou noted that Nigeria-China relations have remained strong and mutually beneficial for over six decades, supported by the operations of more than 100 Chinese companies across the country. He added that Kano continues to stand out as a strategic destination for future investment expansion.
