In a bold move to promote economic inclusion and uplift families across Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched a major empowerment initiative providing N50,000 monthly support to 5,200 women drawn from all 44 local government areas of the state.

The programme, flagged off at the Government House, Kano, underscores the governor’s commitment to reducing poverty, strengthening small-scale enterprises, and promoting self-reliance among vulnerable women.

Governor Yusuf, while unveiling the initiative, reiterated that empowering women is central to his administration’s development vision. He noted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure equitable representation and maximum community impact.

“This support is designed to help women expand small businesses, stabilize their households, and contribute meaningfully to our state’s economy,” the governor said.

He emphasized that women are key drivers of social and economic progress, and his government will continue to implement policies that enhance their productivity and independence.

The Chairperson of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kano State Chapter, Hajiya Saadatu Yusha’u, hailed the initiative as a “landmark in grassroots empowerment,” commending the governor for prioritizing women’s welfare and economic growth.

She urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely to transform their livelihoods and support the administration’s vision for sustainable community development.

The ceremony featured the symbolic presentation of empowerment funds to selected women from different local governments, marking the official commencement of the monthly disbursement across the state.
