BREAKING NEWS : President Tinubu Restructures Military Command with New Appointments of Service Chiefs
In a strategic move aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s national security framework, President Bola Tinubu has announced a significant reshuffle within the country’s military leadership. This new directive is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
According to a statement issued by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication, the President has appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, taking over from General Christopher Musa.
The changes also see Major-General W. Shaibu stepping in as Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been designated as Chief of Air Staff.
Additionally, Rear Admiral I. Abbas will now serve as the Chief of Naval Staff. Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
In expressing gratitude for the service and leadership of the outgoing military chiefs, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the new appointees to uphold the professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie that characterize the Nigerian Armed Forces. He urged them to meet the expectations placed upon them as they embark on their new roles.
All appointments are effective immediately, signaling a swift transition in military leadership as the nation seeks to address its security challenges.
