Students and staff of Bayero University Kano (BUK) can now breathe a sigh of relief as First Bank of Nigeria has unveiled a cutting-edge Digital Xperience Centre on campus, bringing round-the-clock banking services right to their doorstep.
For many in the university community, the new centre means the end of long trips into the city just to make deposits, withdrawals, or payments. The state-of-the-art facility allows customers to carry out a wide range of banking transactions—such as cash deposits, fund transfers, and ATM card creation—without any human assistance.
Speaking during the launch, the bank’s Group Head of Branch Operations and Services, Mrs. Abimbola Kunle Ajayi, said the initiative is part of FirstBank’s commitment to make banking simpler, faster, and more accessible to all.
“This centre is not just about machines; it’s about making life easier for our customers,” she explained. “With this innovation, you can bank anytime, day or night, in a friendly and secure environment.”
To demonstrate the system’s reliability, BUK’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor conducted a live fund transfer, while the Students’ Union President successfully created a new ATM card—all within minutes.
FirstBank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, described the project as a strategic step toward a “digital-first” future.
“We are redefining the banking experience. Our goal is to use technology to make financial services seamless, secure, and available to everyone, everywhere,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor of BUK, Prof. Haruna Musa, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) Prof. Amina Mustapha, praised the bank for choosing the university as home to one of its flagship digital centres. She urged students and staff to make good use of the facility and ensure its sustainability.
For students like Dauda Yusuf, the new centre is more than a convenience—it’s a game changer.
“Before now, we had to go all the way into town just to do small banking tasks,” he said with a smile. “Now, we can do everything here on campus, anytime.”
With the new Digital Xperience Centre, FirstBank has once again reaffirmed its leadership in digital innovation, giving the BUK community a glimpse into the future of banking—smart, seamless, and always within reach.
