The Emir of Zazzau, His Highness Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has appealed to royal princes within the Emirate to set aside personal ambitions and work together in the collective interest of Zazzau.
The call was made during a speech to mark his fifth anniversary on the throne, held in the ancient city of Zaria on Tuesday. In a message laden with reflection and vision, the Emir emphasized the importance of unity among the royal family in order to ensure the steady progress and development of the Emirate.
He noted that the time had come for all royal princes to “put hands together” and focus on the growth and prosperity of Zazzau, rather than pursuing individual ambitions.
“It is time for each and every royal prince to work together and support the administration to move the Emirate forward in terms of developmental projects,” the Emir said.
Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the first Emir of Zazzau from the Mallawa dynasty in over a century, used the occasion not only to address issues within the royal family but also to speak on matters affecting the wider society.
He urged parents to take greater responsibility in guiding their children, stressing the need for proper upbringing and education.
He advocated for a balanced approach that includes both Islamic and western education, describing them as essential pillars for personal and societal development. In a direct message to the youth, the Emir encouraged them to pursue knowledge as well as practical skills that can make them self-reliant.“
I call on our youth to seek both education and skills acquisition. That is the key to becoming self-dependent in today’s world,” he stated.
The Emir also expressed gratitude to the people of the Zazzau Emirate, the government of Kaduna State, and Nigerians across the country who sent goodwill messages on the occasion of his fifth anniversary.
“I am deeply moved by the support and goodwill messages I have received. It is a testament to the unity and love that binds our people,” he said.
The Emir’s five-year reign has been marked by efforts to modernize the traditional institution, promote education, and foster peaceful coexistence among diverse communities within the Emirate.

As the celebrations continue, citizens and stakeholders in Zaria and beyond are hopeful that the Emir’s call for unity and development will serve as a turning point for greater collaboration and progress in the Zazzau Emirate.
