Kano Police Arrest 105 Suspects in Crackdown on Major Crimes

Kano State Police Command has arrested 105 suspects in connection with 30 major criminal cases over the past month, as part of its intensified efforts to combat crime across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori disclosed this during a media briefing held at Bompai Police Headquarters Kano.

Ha said the arrests include suspects involved in armed robbery, drug trafficking, theft of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and thuggery.

CP Bakori noted that the successes come under Operation Kukan Kura, a community-centered crime prevention initiative launched following directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, aimed at proactively tackling crime ahead of the fourth and festive quarters of the year.

In addition to the arrests, the police recovered a range of weapons including AK-47 rifles, pistols, ammunition, motorcycles, motor vehicles, and over N82 million worth of illicit drugs such as Tramadol and Pregabalin tablets, seized in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.”

The Commissioner of Police explained that breakdown of the suspects arrested in September includes 17 armed robbers, 8 drug dealers, 9 motor vehicle thieves, 5 motorcycle thieves, 9 other thieves, and 57 suspected thugs known locally as Yan-Daba.

Commissioner Bakori expressed gratitude to the people of Kano State for their continued support and urged citizens to keep providing credible information to aid ongoing security efforts.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order, and encouraged the media to continue disseminating information to keep the public informed about security developments.
