Dangote Cement Marks International Youth Day with Renewed Commitment to Youth Empowerment

Obajana, Kogi State — Dangote Cement Plc, Obajana, has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment, innovation and sustainable development as it marked the 2026 International Youth Day with a series of activities focused on equipping young people to drive positive change.

The celebration, which attracted more than 100 participants, brought together Sustainability Champions, graduate and management trainees, NYSC Corps members and other invited guests.

According to a statement from the company’s Corporate Communications Department, the event provided a platform for young people to showcase innovative ideas, exchange knowledge and develop practical solutions to sustainability and workplace challenges.

Presentations during the programme covered a wide range of issues, including recycling, environmental sustainability and technology-driven approaches to workplace safety.

One of the highlights was a presentation on the potential use of drones to improve safety in mining operations.

A documentary showcasing previous International Youth Day activities by Dangote Cement also featured during the event.

The documentary highlighted the impact of youth participation and encouraged participants to remain actively involved in initiatives that promote positive change.

Participants described the programme as inspiring and impactful, noting that it had strengthened their confidence, public-speaking skills and commitment to promoting sustainability within their workplaces and communities.

The company said the successful celebration reflects its broader commitment to creating opportunities for young people to develop their skills, embrace innovation and contribute meaningfully to sustainable development.
