Gov Aliyu Prioritises Agriculture, Pledges Greater Support for Sokoto Farmers

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming agriculture, describing the sector as the backbone of the state’s economy and a key driver of rural development.

The governor said his government is implementing policies and programmes aimed at boosting agricultural productivity through the provision of modern farming equipment, quality fertilizers, improved seedlings and other forms of practical support for farmers.

In a statement, Aliyu described agriculture as the heritage and lifeline of the people of Sokoto, stressing that the interventions are designed to restore hope to farming families, revitalise rural communities and strengthen food security across the state.

According to him, the administration’s agricultural policies are focused on turning existing challenges into opportunities while ensuring that farmers directly benefit from government initiatives.

He said sustained investment in the sector would not only increase food production but also drive economic growth, create prosperity and improve the livelihoods of residents.

“The strength of Sokoto lies in the strength of its farmers,” the governor said, reaffirming his commitment to policies that support hardworking farmers and ensure that none is left behind.

Aliyu added that his administration remains determined to make Sokoto a land of abundance and a model of people-centred leadership through sustained investment in agriculture.
