The Kano State Office of the Head of Civil Service has dismissed as fake a widely circulated circular claiming that the government had suspended salary payments to individuals allegedly irregularly enrolled into the state’s payroll.

In a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Rukayya Sulaiman, the office said the purported circular, titled “Suspension of Salary Payment to Persons Irregularly Enrolled into the State Payroll” with reference number HCS/LEV/2/1 and dated June 19, 2026, did not originate from the Office of the Head of Civil Service.

Sulaiman clarified that the document was neither signed nor issued by the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS) or any authorized officer of the office, describing it as false and misleading.

She further stated that the use of the Director’s name and designation in the fake document was fraudulent and deliberately intended to deceive members of the public.

“The Office of the Head of Civil Service wishes to draw the attention of the general public, civil servants, and all stakeholders to a fake circular currently circulating on various social media platforms and other channels titled ‘Suspension of Salary Payment to Persons Irregularly Enrolled into the State Payroll.’

“This Office wishes to categorically state that the purported circular did not originate from the Office of the Head of Civil Service and is therefore false, misleading, and should be disregarded in its entirety,” the statement said.

The office urged civil servants and the general public not to share or act on the contents of the fake circular, stressing that all official communications are issued only through recognized and verified channels.

It also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the forged document and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, due process, and the dissemination of accurate information, the Office of the Head of Civil Service advised the public to rely solely on its official communications for updates on matters affecting the Kano State Civil Service.
