In a renewed push to strengthen democratic participation and grassroots political engagement, the wife of the Jigawa State Governor, Ambassador Dr. Hajiya Amina Umar A. Namadi, has intensified advocacy for voter registration and continued support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a large community gathering in Dundubus Ward of Dutse Local Government Area, Ambassador Dr. Amina Namadi called on residents, particularly members of the Fulani community, to actively participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The event attracted a large turnout of men, women and youths from across the ward and served as a platform for civic education and political awareness.

Addressing the gathering, the governor’s wife described the PVC as more than an identification document, noting that it is a vital democratic instrument that empowers citizens to choose their leaders and influence the development of their communities.

She emphasized that meaningful participation in elections begins with voter registration, warning that citizens who fail to obtain voter cards risk being excluded from decisions that directly affect their lives and livelihoods.

According to her, the PVC remains a key tool for promoting accountability, good governance and effective representation.

Ambassador Dr. Namadi noted that increased voter participation is essential for strengthening democratic institutions and ensuring that the voices of citizens are reflected in governance.

She also highlighted what she described as the achievements of the APC at both state and national levels, citing developmental projects and social intervention programmes that have positively impacted the lives of many Nigerians.

The First Lady urged residents to sustain their support for the ruling party, arguing that continued backing would help consolidate ongoing development efforts, promote peace and ensure greater socio-economic progress.

She further called on voters to support APC candidates “from top to bottom” in future elections, saying such support would guarantee policy continuity and accelerate development across Jigawa State.

According to her, unity, active political participation and support for leaders committed to public service are critical to building a prosperous and stable future.

The gathering underscored the growing importance of grassroots political mobilization as stakeholders seek to encourage civic engagement and deepen democratic culture ahead of future electoral activities in Nigeria.
