The Amirul Hajj of Kano State, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has commended the quality and hygiene of meals being served to Kano pilgrims in Makkah, urging the food vendor responsible for the catering services to sustain the standard throughout the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Alhaji Abdulkadir, who is also the Emir of Gaya, expressed satisfaction with the quality, nutritional value and cleanliness of the food currently being supplied to pilgrims.
The Amirul Hajj made the remarks after inspecting the facilities of Da’am Almawasem Nima Kitchen Company, where he and members of his delegation were taken through the food preparation process, from cooking to delivery.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by Mustapha Muhammed, Head of the Kano Media Team for the 2026 Hajj Operation.
“I am convinced by the level of hygiene and quality maintained in the preparation of the meals before they are delivered to the pilgrims. We are calling on the vendor to sustain this standard,” the Amirul Hajj said.
Also speaking during the visit, the Deputy Amirul Hajj and Emir of Karaye, Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz, praised the quality of the meals but urged the company to ensure timely delivery, noting that there had been complaints from some pilgrims about delays in receiving their food.
The Chairman of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yusuf Lawan, also appreciated the vendor’s efforts and urged the management to justify the confidence reposed in the company by maintaining high service standards.
Similarly, the Commander-General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, commended the company’s performance and suggested the inclusion of traditional Hausa delicacies in the menu.
He specifically advised the management to engage a cook capable of preparing “Kuka” soup, a popular northern Nigerian dish made from powdered baobab leaves.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Da’am Almawasem Nima Kitchen Company, Alhaji Nur Idris Saleh, welcomed the Amirul Hajj and his delegation and briefed them on the company’s operations, including the food preparation and distribution processes.
According to him, the meals provided to Kano pilgrims meet the required Saudi Arabian standards for quality, hygiene and nutritional value.
