The Kano State Police Command has called on the rightful owner of a missing bag currently in its custody to come forward for identification and collection.

According to the Command, the bag was recovered on November 8, 2025, after a commercial tricycle operator, Abba Abdullahi Abubakar of Hotoro Quarters in Kano, discovered it inside his tricycle shortly after dropping off a passenger at Naibawa Yan Lemo Quarters.

Police authorities disclosed that the passenger had mistakenly left the bag behind after alighting from the tricycle.

In what the Command described as a remarkable act of honesty and civic responsibility, Abba Abdullahi reportedly made several attempts to trace the owner of the bag, including making public announcements through radio stations in Kano. However, all efforts to locate the owner proved unsuccessful.

Following the unsuccessful search, the tricycle rider submitted the bag to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters for safe keeping and further investigation.

Police operatives who examined the bag discovered that it contained clothing materials and an undisclosed sum of money.

The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the tricycle operator for his integrity and exemplary conduct.

The Command noted that Abba Abdullahi’s action reflects the values of patriotism, honesty, and responsible citizenship being promoted through the police community policing initiative.

The Commissioner of Police also urged residents to emulate such conduct by reporting found or missing items to the nearest police station, stressing that such actions help strengthen public trust and improve police-community relations.

Meanwhile, the Command has appealed to the rightful owner of the bag or anyone with useful information about it to visit the Police Public Relations Office at the Bompai Police Headquarters in Kano for verification and possible collection.

The owner is expected to provide valid proof of ownership as well as a means of identification before the bag can be released.

For enquiries or claims, the public can contact the Command through 07026273614.

The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
