The newly appointed Kano State Commissioner for Internal Security and Special Services, Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u (Rtd.), has pledged his administration’s full support for the Nigeria Police Force in strengthening security and sustaining peace across the state.

Yusha’u made the commitment on Thursday, November 5, 2026, during a courtesy visit to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai, where he was received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, alongside members of the Command’s management team.

The Commissioner, who was accompanied by top officials of the Ministry, commended the Kano State Police Command for its efforts in maintaining law and order and protecting lives and property across the state.

He also expressed condolences to the Police Command over the death of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty along the Sokoto-Zamfara axis.

Yusha’u equally sympathised with the CP and the entire Command over the death of SP Salisu Wakili, describing his demise as a significant loss to the Nigeria Police Force and Kano State.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased officers and divine strength for their bereaved families.

The Commissioner assured the Police of his readiness to work closely with the Command and other security agencies, stressing that security requires collective responsibility and sustained cooperation among all stakeholders.

He further reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening security, promoting stability and creating a safer environment for residents of Kano State.

Responding, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori welcomed the Commissioner and his delegation, describing the visit as timely and a demonstration of the strong partnership between the Kano State Government and the Police Command.

The Police Commissioner also used the occasion to caution politicians and residents against hate speech, particularly as political campaign activities gather momentum.

He urged political actors to conduct their activities responsibly and avoid inflammatory statements capable of threatening public peace and security.

Reiterating the importance of community participation in policing, CP Bakori stated that “the community is the Police, and the Police is the community.”

He called on residents to support the Police by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime, detecting criminal activities and maintaining security across the state.

The visit ended on a cordial note, with both parties reaffirming their commitment to stronger inter-agency cooperation and a sustained partnership towards promoting peace, security and development in Kano State.
