Yusuf Disburses N290m to 5,800 Kano Women Under Empowerment Programme

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has distributed N50,000 each to 5,800 women across the state under his administration’s monthly women empowerment and poverty alleviation programme.

The cash intervention, valued at N290 million, is aimed at helping beneficiaries establish small-scale businesses and achieve greater financial independence.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony held at the Government House in Kano, Governor Yusuf said the initiative was designed to improve the economic wellbeing of women and strengthen their capacity to support themselves and their families.

“This N50,000 being given to each and every one of you is meant to empower you to start small businesses which will make you self-reliant so that you will be able to support yourselves and your own families financially,” Yusuf said.

The governor said the programme would be sustained, with women selected from the state’s 44 local government areas each month to receive the N50,000 intervention.

He urged the beneficiaries to support his administration’s programmes in healthcare, water supply, education, infrastructure and economic empowerment.

Yusuf also appealed to the women to reciprocate the government’s efforts by voting for him and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, continued support from the people would enable his administration to sustain its programmes and deliver more dividends of democracy across the state.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi, described the initiative as a major intervention aimed at improving the livelihoods and economic status of women in Kano.

She said the governor had demonstrated commitment to women’s welfare through policies and programmes targeted at improving their standard of living.

Amina described Yusuf as a compassionate leader who had prioritised the welfare of residents, particularly women who, she said, had benefited from his administration’s policies.

The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the government’s gesture by supporting Yusuf’s bid for a second term in 2027 and voting for other APC candidates contesting legislative seats across the state.
