The Kano State Police Command has rolled out a comprehensive statewide security initiative aimed at enhancing safety and strengthening community policing across the state.

The move, spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, involves intensified sensitization campaigns, strategic engagements, and coordinated operations designed to tackle emerging security challenges.

According to the Command, the initiative aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to dominate public spaces and proactively combat criminal activities. As part of the effort, the Command has held high-level meetings and conducted joint operations with other security and law enforcement agencies to boost inter-agency collaboration and operational effectiveness.

In addition, police authorities have embarked on extensive community engagement across both urban and rural areas to build trust and establish sustainable community policing structures.

Stakeholder consultations were also held with traditional rulers, community leaders, and key security actors, particularly in border local government areas, to address cross-border threats.

During these engagements, residents were sensitized on identifying early warning signs of security risks and the importance of safe evacuation procedures during emergencies. The Command noted that intelligence-gathering mechanisms have been significantly enhanced, alongside the deployment of proactive surveillance strategies in identified hotspots.

The Police Command expressed appreciation to residents for their continued support, cooperation, and timely provision of useful information, describing it as critical to the successes recorded so far.

It urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.

Residents can also access emergency support through dedicated lines: 08032419754, 08123821575, and 09029292926, or via the “NPF Rescue Me” mobile application.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring residents that sustained efforts are in place to ensure Kano remains peaceful and secure for all law-abiding citizens.
