The Kano State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has intensified its public sensitisation efforts, targeting drivers and transport unions as part of preparations for the upcoming Sallah celebrations.
The initiative follows a directive from the FRSC Headquarters for a nationwide enlightenment campaign aimed at ensuring safer roads during the festive period, when travel activities typically surge across the country.
Kano Sector Commander, Idris Mohammed-Lawal, said the campaign is designed to raise awareness on road safety, encourage responsible driving habits, and ultimately achieve a crash-free Sallah in the state.
According to him, the exercise aligns with the Corps’ 2026 strategic focus on “Renewed Commitment, Professionalism and Improved Service Delivery,” introduced by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed.
“As part of the sensitisation drive, we visited the Kano Line Motor Park along the Kano–Zaria Road to engage transport union members, drivers, and passengers on the importance of safety,” he stated.
Mohammed-Lawal urged motorists to avoid overloading, speeding, and reckless driving, stressing the need for strict compliance with traffic regulations to reduce road crashes during the festive season.
Responding on behalf of transport stakeholders, Auwal of the Kano Line Motor Park, representing the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), commended the FRSC for the initiative and pledged that union members would adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a hitch-free Sallah celebration.
